Specialty Doctor - Neurosurgery
Applications are invited for the 6 Month post for a Specialty Doctor \- Neurosurgery at Salford Royal Hospital of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA).
The Neurosurgical Unit in the Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences (MCCN) at Salford Royal Hospital has one of the largest and busiest Neurosurgery units in the country.
The role will focus predominantly on the assessment and management of patients with degenerative spinal conditions, contributing to outpatient clinics, triage, injections and inpatient surgery. Other subspecialties that are represented within the unit include complex spine, skull\-base, oncology and vascular neurosurgery, giving you experience in a busy, well\-established and highly\-performing unit.
The successful candidate will:
Undertake outpatient clinics predominantly assessing and managing patients with degenerative spinal conditions, including cervical and lumbar radiculopathy, spinal stenosis, and degenerative disc disease.
Participate in referral triage, clinical decision\-making, and pathway management to ensure appropriate utilisation of surgical and non\-surgical treatment options.
Support elective spinal operating lists according to experience and competence.
Contribute to inpatient ward rounds and ongoing management of neurosurgical inpatients.
Provide supervision and clinical support to junior medical staff where appropriate.
Contribute to service development initiatives, quality improvement projects, and audit activity within the department.
Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with Trust standards.
Participate in teaching of medical students, junior doctors, and allied health professionals.
Maintain professional development and comply with appraisal and revalidation requirements in accordance with GMC standards.
