Specialist SpLD study skills tutor

Job Overview
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate self\-employed Specialist SpLD Study Skills Tutors across the country to support DSA eligible university students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD). This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in students' educational journeys by providing tailored study skills support that enhances their learning strategies and confidence. We are currently only looking for tutors who are happy to provide in person support at the University of Derby.

Duties

• Deliver personalised study skills programmes tailored to the individual needs of students with SpLD and ASC


• Develop engaging support sessions that incorporate specialised teaching techniques for diverse learning styles


• Assess students’ progress regularly and adapt teaching strategies accordingly


• Support students in developing organisational skills, time management, and effective study techniques


• Foster a positive learning environment that encourages confidence and motivation


• Maintain accurate records of sessions, progress, and areas for development

Qualifications

For the SpLD position you need to hold a membership with one of the below organisations:

• The Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS). \- Full membership, associate membership, affiliate professional.


• British Dyslexia Association (BDA) \- AMBDA, AMBDA RE/HE, Professional


• The Association of Dyslexia Specialist in Higher Education (ADSHE) \- Professional QA Tutor membership


• Dyslexia Guild (DG) \- Associate, Associate FE/HE, Member, Fellow.
