We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our Stroke and Rehabilitation Stroke Wards at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Trust, as well as the Integrated Community Stroke Service (ICSS). This is a full‑time fixed‑term post until July 2027, with participation in weekend and bank holiday rotas to support delivery of a 7‑day service.

This is an exciting opportunity to work across both acute inpatient and community stroke rehabilitation settings, contributing to high‑quality, patient‑centred care for adults with communication and swallowing needs.

The post is split between:

Stroke and Rehabilitation Stroke Wards (Sherwood Forest Hospitals)

Integrated Community Stroke Service (ICSS) — providing therapy in patients’ homes across Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark and Sherwood

A car driver is essential for the community component of the role.

You will work with adults presenting with a range of communication impairments, speech and language disorders, and dysphagia, delivering specialist assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and management.

This role offers a unique opportunity to develop your specialist skills across both acute and community stroke pathways. If you are passionate about supporting adults with communication and swallowing needs, and want to contribute to a dynamic and supportive service, we would be delighted to receive your application.

We are an award\-winning NHS Foundation Trust working alongside health and social care colleagues across the county to provide acute and community healthcare services to more than 420,000 people across Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark and Sherwood, and parts of Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.

We put the patient at the heart of everything that we do and it is our aim to make sure that every patient is treated as we would want a member of our own family to be treated. At the same time, we expect our staff to be caring, kind and courteous to each other and to look out for each other. We believe that we are truly a clinically\-led organisation.

We are proud that our Trust colleagues have voted us the best acute Trust to work for in the East Midlands for seven years running in the National NHS Staff Survey, while the Care Quality Commission has rated our Trust as ‘outstanding’ for care and our King’s Mill Hospital as the only ‘outstanding’ NHS\-run hospital in the East Midlands.
