Special Needs Teaching Assistant - Secondary SEN School
Eccles | Full-Time | September Start

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Secondary SEN School in Eccles from September on a full-time basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs and helping them achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

The Role

As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils aged 11-16 with a range of additional needs, predominantly Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). The role will involve providing both one-to-one support and working with small groups of students, helping them to access learning, develop social skills, and build confidence both inside and outside the classroom.

You will work alongside teachers and other support staff to implement personalised learning strategies and support plans, ensuring every student receives the encouragement and guidance they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing one-to-one support for pupils with autism and other special educational needs.

  • Supporting small groups of students with their academic, social and emotional development.

  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons.

  • Promoting positive behaviour and helping students develop independence.

  • Building strong relationships with students, staff and parents/carers.

  • Supporting students with communication, sensory and emotional regulation needs.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, particularly autism.

  • A patient, empathetic and resilient approach.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • The ability to build positive relationships and engage students effectively.

  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in education, care, youth work or support work are desirable but not essential.
