Obstetric, General \& MSK Ultrasound Sonographer with Phlebotomy Experience

Location: Croydon, London, 2 minutes from East Croydon Station
Pay Rate: £50–£65 per hour depending on experience, scan type, and skills

About the Role

Ultrasound Centre Croydon is looking for an experienced, confident, and patient\-focused Ultrasound Sonographer to join our growing private clinic on a part\-time / sessional basis.

We are ideally looking for someone who can confidently perform a wide range of scans, including obstetric ultrasound, general ultrasound, MSK ultrasound, fertility monitoring scans, and phlebotomy/blood sampling.

This role would suit a highly skilled sonographer who is comfortable working independently in a private clinical setting and can provide high\-quality scanning, clear reporting, and excellent patient care.

At this stage, the position is part\-time/session\-based, with working hours agreed in advance depending on clinic needs and patient demand. There may be potential for the role to develop into a full\-time position in the future as the clinic continues to grow.

We are located just 2 minutes from East Croydon Station, with excellent transport links.

Scope of Practice

The ideal candidate should be able to perform and report a broad range of ultrasound examinations independently, within their own professional competence.

Obstetric Ultrasound

  • Early pregnancy / viability scans

  • Dating scans

  • Gender scans

  • Reassurance and wellbeing scans

  • Growth and presentation scans

  • 3D / 4D / HD Live scans

  • Other pregnancy scans within competence
General Ultrasound
  • Abdominal ultrasound

  • Pelvic ultrasound

  • Renal and urinary tract scans

  • Thyroid ultrasound

  • Testicular ultrasound

  • Soft tissue ultrasound

  • Other non\-pregnancy scans within competence
MSK Ultrasound
  • Musculoskeletal ultrasound examinations

  • Tendons, ligaments, muscles, joints, and soft tissue assessments

  • MSK scans within the candidate’s experience and competence
Fertility Monitoring
  • Follicle tracking

  • Endometrial lining assessment

  • IVF cycle monitoring

  • Fertility\-related ultrasound scans within competence
Phlebotomy / Blood Sampling
  • Venepuncture for blood sample collection

  • Correct handling, labelling, and preparation of samples

  • Ensuring patient comfort and safety during blood collection

  • Maintaining accurate records in line with clinical standards
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform high\-quality ultrasound examinations independently

  • Carry out obstetric, general, MSK, and fertility\-related scans within your scope of practice

  • Produce accurate, clear, and professional ultrasound reports

  • Carry out phlebotomy / blood sampling where required, if trained and competent

  • Provide clear explanations to patients before, during, and after the scan

  • Deliver a caring, professional, and patient\-centred service

  • Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records

  • Follow clinic policies, professional standards, CQC requirements, and safety procedures

  • Work independently while maintaining excellent clinical quality and patient experience

Requirements

The successful candidate should have


  • Experience in obstetric ultrasound

  • Experience in general ultrasound

  • Experience in MSK ultrasound

  • Phlebotomy / venepuncture experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ independent scanning experience

  • Ability to perform and report ultrasound examinations independently

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • A professional, caring, and patient\-focused approach

  • Right to work in the UK

  • HCPC, NMC, or equivalent professional registration/membership where applicable
Desirable
  • Experience in fertility / IVF monitoring scans

  • Experience working in a private clinic setting

  • Ability to cover a wide range of scan types flexibly

  • Good reporting skills and attention to detail

  • Confidence working independently in a private healthcare environment
Pay and Working Hours

Pay is £50–£65 per hour, depending on experience, scan type, and clinical skills.

Higher rates may be considered for highly experienced, multi\-skilled candidates who can confidently perform a wider range of services, including obstetric ultrasound, full general ultrasound, MSK ultrasound, fertility monitoring, and phlebotomy/blood sampling.

This is currently a part\-time / sessional role. Sessions will be agreed in advance based on clinic needs and patient demand.

A minimum session length applies. Extended sessions may be paid at an agreed sessional or extended\-hour rate, depending on the number of hours, scan type, and experience.

There may be potential for the role to develop into a full\-time position in the future as the clinic grows.
