Software Development Engineer, Firecracker

We are looking for a new teammate who is enthusiastic, curious, empathic, motivated, reliable, with a good sense of ownership, and a drive to invent. In this role, you will work on Firecracker \[1], an open source virtualization technology that is purpose\-built for creating and managing secure, multi\-tenant container and function\-based services that provide serverless operational models. . Firecracker is deployed globally as part of AWS Lambda \[2], Aurora D\-SQL, and other AWS Services. Firecracker is also integrated by 10\+ teams beyond AWS as part of their platforms \[3]. Firecracker has an ambitious multi\-year roadmap of tackling impactful and interesting opportunities in the quickly expanding ephemeral compute space \- come help us make history!
Your main goal will be to create long\-term customer value. You will: work to understand our customers' needs and engineer new features to meet them; own and automate operations; contribute new ideas and methods to continuously improve quality and development efficiency; innovate in the area of ephemeral compute platforms; and be a maintainer of the Firecracker open source project. This position also involves on\-call responsibilities, which is typically done once every 8 weeks. We strive to keep this down and ensure our systems are fault tolerant. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
------------------------
- Experience (non\-internship) in professional software development
- Interest, knowledge, and experience in the areas low\-level software engineering and/or systems programming.
- Passionate about working in the open source community.

- Experience in the areas of low\-level software engineering and/or systems programming, for example with Linux, C, C\+\+, or Rust
