Social Worker -Adolescent Intervention Prevention - Permanent
Your new role
Southend Council are looking to appoint a permanent, full-time Social Worker within the Adolescent Intervention Prevention Team.The key requirement of the role is to have the desire to work flexibly and creatively with teenagers and have a strong track record of partnership working.
The new Social Worker will want to change the trajectory of young people's journeys when they find themselves at risk of/or experiencing criminal, sexual exploitation, association with gangs or children & young people missing from home, care or education.
The successful candidate will provide professional and comprehensive assessments and casework to a caseload of children and young people where appropriate, to disrupt ongoing risks and improve safety, protective factors and outcomes. Ensure the highest of professional standards and good overall knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and practice methods and provide an efficient and cost-effective service to children, young people and their families, ensuring that the needs of the children and their parents/carers are professionally assessed.Investigate, evaluate and analyse information on cases, demonstrating clarity of assessment, reliability of information, evidence conclusions and realistic action plans.
Within this position, hybrid working opportunities are available. However, you are required to be on-site at the Civic Centre a minimum of 2 days a week.Nowhere else will you gain as much experience on the job, making us a sought-after place to work.

The ability to drive and having the use of a car is essential for this position.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this position, you must be able to work in the UK, have a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with the Social Work England and have completed your ASYE.
You must be currently working within Children Services and have knowledge of child protection, looked after children and associated child in need social work practice.Have knowledge, experience and understanding of working with young people at risk of exploitation and contextual risks.Contemporary knowledge of social work interventions, methods and models including restorative practice, systemic thinking and motivational interviewing.
The ability to drive and having use of a car is essential for this position.
