As a Social Work Consultant in the only Outstanding children's services in the Northwest, you will be at the forefront of supporting and guiding Manchester's social workers into the national Families First reforms. By implementing creative learning opportunities to develop practice, you will make a difference by supporting social workers to navigate the future with confidence and resilience. You will work alongside senior managers to achieve Our vision, developing the skills and knowledge of the workforce so that they can deliver effective services to all Our children and young people so that they can achieve their best outcomes.

The post holder will also be the lead for Practice Learning in children’s services, placing around 50 students a year and supporting the training and development of practice educators.

About the Candidate

We are looking for an experienced children’s social worker and fully qualified practice educator to join our dynamic children’s services workforce development team. If you are a self\-motivated and enthusiastic social worker and facilitator of learning in others, then this is the opportunity for you.

  • You will have supported at least 2 social work students in your role and have completed PEPS stage 2\.

  • You will be enthusiastic about sharing your knowledge and skills with others and have experience of doing this with individuals and groups.

  • You will enjoy maintaining your own currency around practice and policy developments in children’s services and have a passion for supporting practice improvement to have the greatest impact for children and families in Manchester.

  • You will enjoy working independently, as well as part of a team and collaborating with colleagues across all levels.

  • You will have developed organisational and prioritisation skills and be energised by finding solutions to challenges and see these as an opportunity for your own learning and professional development.

  • You will have effective verbal and written communication skills with students, as well as social workers and managers at all levels of the organisation.

  • You will be willing to offer support and challenge, as appropriate to champion Manchester’s values and for the benefits of service improvement and outcomes for the children, young people and families we serve.
