About Do Something Good Midlands

Do Something Good Midlands (DSGM) is a community\-focused organisation creating opportunities for people to connect, try new experiences and make a positive difference to others. Our aim is to help reduce loneliness and social isolation by bringing people together through wellbeing activities, creative sessions, community events and helping different local communities and shared experiences.

About the role:

We are looking for a Social Media \& Creation Volunteer to help us grow our online presence and share the work we do with our community.

This is a creative and varied role where you’ll help create engaging content for our social media platforms, promote upcoming events and activities, and showcase the positive impact DSGM is having in the community.

You’ll have the opportunity to bring your own ideas to our content, experiment with different types of posts and help develop our social media presence as DSGM continues to grow.

Key responsibilities:

  • Creating engaging content for social media

  • Helping plan and organise social media content

  • Creating posts, graphics, reels, stories and other digital content

  • Attending some DSGM events where you can fully capture and document photos/videos to prepare social media posts

  • Joining in on our events, engaging and talking to attendees

  • Promoting upcoming events, opportunities and community activities

  • Helping develop creative ideas for social media campaigns

  • Writing captions and engaging copy

  • Keeping our social media pages active and up to date

  • Helping showcase the people, activities and positive impact of DSGM

  • Researching social media trends and suggesting new content ideas

  • Helping increase awareness and engagement with DSGM

  • Working with the team to ensure content reflects our values and community

  • Reviewing engagement and suggesting ways we can improve our content
What we’re looking for

You don’t need previous professional experience in social media or content creation. We’re looking for someone who is creative, enthusiastic, reliable and interested in using social media to make a positive difference.

You should be comfortable using social media platforms and have an interest in creating engaging content. Experience with Canva, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, photography, video editing or similar tools would be useful, but isn’t essential.

We’re particularly interested in people who enjoy coming up with ideas, trying new things and telling stories through content.

Commitment

We ask individuals to commit to a minimum of 4 hours per week. The role is primarily remote. We offer a flexible schedule to fit around your studies, work and other commitments. They can choose when to complete their 4 hours each week, with a mixture of remote tasks and occasional in\-person opportunities where appropriate.

Minimum age requirement: Individuals must be aged 18 or over. This is due to the nature of our activities, which may involve working independently and with others.
