Social Housing Solicitor, NQ-3 Years PQE, Birmingham, £Competitive + Excellent Benefits (DOE) – We are looking for a motivated Social Housing Solicitor to join a highly regarded team in Birmingham, working with Registered Providers and other housing sector clients on a broad range of contentious and advisory matters. JOB REF: 4388.

THE ROLE:

  • You will be responsible for managing your own caseload with the support of senior colleagues while advising clients on a wide variety of housing management matters.

  • The role offers a balance of litigation, advisory work and client contact, providing excellent exposure across all aspects of social housing law.

  • Handle possession proceedings involving rent arrears, anti-social behaviour, unlawful occupation, succession disputes and tenancy breaches.

  • Prepare and obtain injunctions, including emergency applications, access injunctions and tenancy enforcement orders.

  • Assist with housing disrepair and housing conditions claims, including defending claims and managing matters under the relevant pre-action protocols.

  • Provide practical legal advice on tenancy management issues, including assignments, succession rights, capacity issues and relationship breakdowns.

  • Advise clients on the application of key housing legislation and public law principles, delivering commercially focused solutions.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Applications are sought from solicitors with up to 3 years' post-qualification experience, with exposure to housing litigation or civil litigation.

  • A genuine interest in social housing law and the challenges facing the sector.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload effectively.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain legal issues clearly to clients.

  • A proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership of your work.

  • An enthusiasm for advocacy and developing your courtroom experience.

  • A team-focused approach with a commitment to building strong relationships with colleagues and clients.
