Overview
We are seeking a technically capable and commercially aware Smart Energy \& Controls Engineer to join our growing engineering team.
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working across electrical systems, controls, communications networks, energy management and emerging technologies. You will support the delivery of innovative projects for major UK retailers and multi\-site organisations, helping clients reduce energy consumption, improve operational performance and deploy smart building technologies.
The successful candidate will be comfortable operating independently, travelling throughout the UK and engaging directly with customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Survey, commission and support energy monitoring and control systems.
- Configure and integrate IoT devices, metering infrastructure and communications networks.
- Support deployment of energy management and analytics platforms.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues across electrical, controls and networked systems.
- Commission and validate controls strategies and optimisation solutions.
- Produce technical documentation, reports and recommendations.
- Support customer relationships and provide technical guidance.
- Collaborate with internal project, software and data teams.
- Contribute to the development of new technologies, products and services.
Essential
- Strong electrical engineering knowledge.
- Experience of controls, automation or building management systems.
- Understanding of IP networking and communications protocols.
- Excellent fault\-finding and problem\-solving capability.
- Customer\-facing experience.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK.
- BMS, SCADA or PLC experience.
- Knowledge of Modbus, BACnet, M\-Bus, MQTT or similar protocols.
- Energy monitoring and metering experience.
- Retail, facilities management or multi\-site estate experience.
- Understanding of IoT technologies and cloud\-based systems.
- Experience of commissioning and project delivery.
- Exposure to cutting\-edge technologies including IoT, analytics and AI\-driven energy optimisation.
