Overview:
The Shop Merchandiser ensures the effective organisation, presentation, and replenishment of stock in the store. This role focuses on customer engagement, stock management, operational tidiness, and adherence to store standards. Working closely with the trade counter and yard team, this position contributes to creating a seamless and positive shopping experience for customers. Reporting directly to the Shop Manager and the Assistant Shop Manager, this role is integral to maintaining the store’s efficiency and professional appearance.
Key Responsibilities:
Stock Checks:
- Identify low\-stock areas or brands and communicate promptly with the trade counter team for reordering.
- Monitor product availability to prevent stockouts and ensure shelves are adequately replenished.
- Work with the yard team to handle incoming deliveries efficiently.
- Top up shelves on the shop floor and organise overstock neatly in storage or warehouse areas.
- Ensure storage areas are tidy and systematically arranged for easy access.
- Operate the paint mixing machine to fulfil customer orders accurately.
- Ensure correct colour matching by verifying customer requirements; seek assistance if unsure.
- Aim to minimise errors and waste while maintaining high\-quality standards.
- Approach and assist customers proactively, providing product guidance and support.
- Collaborate with trade counter staff for customer service when necessary and observe to develop product knowledge and sales techniques.
- Maintain a customer\-focused approach, ensuring a positive experience for all visitors.
- Use the bailer appropriately and safely, ensuring all cardboard is flattened and stacked neatly.
- Keep waste management areas tidy and organised, maintaining compliance with safety protocols.
- Ensure shelves are faced off, stocked, and priced accurately, with products displayed neatly and in the correct areas.
- Keep store floors clean, shelves dust\-free, and common areas organised.
- Perform regular sweeping and general cleaning to maintain a professional store appearance.
- Participate in training sessions to understand store systems, processes, and customer service standards.
- Attend product training to improve product knowledge, operational efficiency, and customer engagement skills.
- Shadow experienced staff to develop proficiency in paint mixing, stock handling, and customer service.
