What You’ll Do –
- In conjunction with the Head of Compliance, support the delivery of the Group Health, Safety and Environmental (SHE) Strategy, and help ensure that relevant objectives, KPIs and targets are achieved;
- Understand the needs of the business and provide professional support and advice to operational management on SHE matters, while developing effective working relationships with key stakeholders across the branch and regional network;
- Write, develop, communicate and deliver risk assessments, safe systems of work and handbooks;
- Co\-ordinate (and lead, where required) the investigation and escalation of all accidents, incidents, near misses, insurance claims and relevant workplace issues;
- Advise branch and regional management, Directors and the Head of Compliance on any non\-compliance and/or risk to the business resulting from audit findings;
- Produce monthly regional SHE management reports for the Head of Compliance, and assist in analysing SHE performance;
- Ensure all RIDDOR\-reportable accidents are reported, fully investigated and that root cause(s) are identified, with appropriate remedial actions agreed and all information logged;
- Co\-ordinate and support onsite training, e.g FLT, banksman, manual handling etc;
- Experience and knowledge of incident investigation and root cause analysis, as well as practical audit and inspection experience;
- Comprehensive understanding of UK HSE legislative requirements;
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, and ideally a qualified member of an appropriate, well\-recognised HSE professional body e.g IOSH;
- An ability to coach, influence and support the site management team, including experience of successfully running awareness and safety behavioural programmes;
- Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management, with advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, CRM and SharePoint;
- An ability to lead change from the front;
- A passion for delivering great customer service;
- Strong organisational skills;
- A good understanding of the commercial impact in decision making in relation to the profitability of the business when resolving issues.
As part of this role, some national travel will be required, from time to time.
