What support is available to me?

You will be invited to attend our comprehensive induction programme and get up to date with all statutory and mandatory training. You will be entitled to a selection of training and development opportunities to support your professional and personal development.

We are looking for someone who will work as a mentor 3 days a week and a class\-based HLTA for 2 days a week. This is a full time position in term\-time only.

Salary Range: SCP13\-SCP17 (£29,064 – £31,021\).

Due to the term\-time only contract, the estimated pro\-rata salary range: (£25,221 – £26,920\)

Start date: As soon as possible

Contract Type: Permanent, full time and term\-time Only. Subject to a probation period.

Hours: 8:30\-16:30 Mon\-Thurs. 8:30\-16:00 Fri (30 minutes flexible working at the start and end of the day)

Key Tasks and Responsibilities – Mentor:

  • Work directly with students, individually or in small groups, to develop:

  • Emotional regulation strategies.

  • Social communication and interaction skills.

  • Practical independence and life skills (e.g. organisation, self\-care, daily routines

  • Support students in managing anxieties, transitions, and challenges that impact their learning.

  • Use positive, autism\-friendly approaches to build trust and encourage engagement.

  • Assist in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of mentoring programmes tailored to individual needs.

  • Collaborate with teachers, teaching assistants, and therapists to ensure joined\-up support.

  • Maintain accurate records of sessions and progress, sharing feedback with staff and families as appropriate.

  • Promote student confidence, resilience, and independence, encouraging participation in wider school life.

  • Support safeguarding and wellbeing, reporting any concerns in line with school policy.

  • Undertake training to develop specialist skills in supporting autistic children and young people.
Class based Higher\-Level Teaching Assistant:

Your role will involve you assisting with general support in classrooms throughout the school. You will be taking on 1:1 sessions and small groups, as well as supporting whole classes, also participating in educational trips off site. You may be asked to lead and/or plan without notice for a class in the teacher’s absence. In general, you will be supporting SEN pupils through the academic, social and emotional elements of school life. You will

be expected to promote and secure high standards of teaching and learning, whilst supporting pupil achievement and progression. You will need to actively contribute to SGS Pegasus School vision, aims and objectives.
