Service and MOT Technician
Role & Purpose
The Service and MOT Technician is a key member of the Aftersales Team, reporting directly to the Service Manager. The role involves carrying out a range of workshop activities in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. The primary objective is to meet customer requirements while maximising workshop productivity and utilisation.
Salary & Benefits
- Basic salary ranging from £32,000 to £37,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
- Potential earnings of up to £55,000 through bonus schemes and KPI performance incentives.
- Carry out vehicle servicing, repairs, and MOT preparation in line with manufacturer technical standards.
- Conduct MOT testing where qualified (MOT Tester qualification not essential).
- Work in accordance with brand and dealership processes and procedures.
- Liaise directly with customers when required to deliver a high level of service.
- Support and mentor less experienced colleagues within the workshop.
- Attend regular training to maintain and develop technical knowledge and skills.
- Work as a full and active member of both the workshop and wider dealership teams.
- Maintain a clean, safe working environment, ensuring unsafe working practices are avoided.
- Wear and use protective clothing and equipment provided by the Company as required.
- Handle waste products and hazardous materials in line with company policies and COSHH regulations.
- Technicians may occasionally be required to undertake additional reasonable duties appropriate to their skills and experience.
- Monday to Friday working pattern.
- One in three Saturdays required, paid at an overtime rate.
- Ability to plan and organise workload effectively to meet agreed deadlines.
- Able to quickly assimilate information and provide considered responses.
- Strong work ethic with adaptability to change.
- High attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet business demands.
- Responds positively to organisational and market changes.
Essential:
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- PC literate, including Microsoft applications and web-based systems.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
- Proven record of high individual performance.
- Previous vehicle knowledge with demonstrated technical skills.
- Relevant City & Guilds, BTEC, or NVQ qualifications.
- Experience within a franchised dealership environment.
- Strong fault diagnosis skills.
- MOT Tester qualification (advantageous but not essential).
- Commitment to delivering first-class customer service.
