The Role

We are looking for a motivated Service Engineer to join our team in Bold, St Helens.

This is a varied role that combines workshop\-based engineering activities with customer\-facing field service support. You will be responsible for preparing, maintaining, servicing and repairing a wide range of rental equipment including welding machines, welding generators, induction heating equipment and welding automation systems.

The successful candidate will also provide on\-site technical support, attend customer breakdowns and carry out repairs and maintenance work at customer locations throughout the UK as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Service, repair and prepare rental equipment for customer use.


• Diagnose and repair faults on welding equipment, welding generators, induction heating systems and welding automation equipment.


• Test, calibrate and commission equipment prior to dispatch.


• Attend customer sites to carry out servicing, repairs and technical support activities.


• Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency call\-outs when required.


• Assemble and configure equipment for hire and sale.


• Complete service reports, inspection records and workshop documentation.


• Book equipment in and out of the workshop.


• Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping and quality.


• Support customers and colleagues with technical advice and fault\-finding assistance.

• Practical engineering experience in a service, maintenance or repair environment.


• Good mechanical aptitude and fault\-finding ability.


• Basic electrical diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.


• Experience using workshop tools, testing and measuring equipment.


• Strong communication and customer service skills.


• Full UK Driving License.


• Willingness to travel and attend customer sites throughout the UK.


• Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.

• Experience working with welding equipment, generators or industrial plant.


• Electrical or electromechanical maintenance experience.


• Previous field service engineer experience.


• Manufacturing, maintenance or service engineering background.


• Forklift license.


• Knowledge of industrial rental equipment.
