Our Repair Shop at Selhurst Depot is seeking a Service Engineer Level 2 to join the team. In this hands\-on role, you'll be responsible for carrying out repairs, maintenance, and fault\-finding activities to the highest safety and quality standards, while contributing to the performance and reliability of our fleet.
What you'll be doing
------------------------
- Carrying out repairs and additional work identified during examinations, including mechanical, electrical, and vehicle\-building activities.
- Performing component changes and lifting activities when required.
- Diagnosing faults and carrying out effective repairs on rolling stock.
- Working collaboratively within a team environment and taking the lead when appropriate.
- Ensuring full compliance with all safety procedures, systems, and responsibilities.
- Completing all required maintenance and repair documentation accurately.
- Promoting a proactive approach to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Supporting, coaching, and mentoring colleagues to help develop team capability.

To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have:
- A completed apprenticeship or engineering skills development programme equivalent to NVQ Level 3.
- A strong understanding of rolling stock engineering, demonstrated through your experience and technical knowledge.
- Experience working with rolling stock maintained or repaired by Southern.
- Proven fault\-finding and diagnostic skills.
- A willingness to learn and develop new skills in train maintenance and repair.
- The ability to lead by example and support the development of other team members.
- The physical capability to meet the Engineering medical standards.
- The ability to successfully obtain PTS and Designated Person (Track Course) certification.

- Contract: Your contract and formal offer letter will be issued once a start date has been agreed
- Induction: Your first week of employment will be at our East Croydon location where you'll undertake your induction and receive your IT equipment before you meet your team and get stuck into your new role.
