The Service Engineer

will provide the highest standard of after sales service for our customers and partners by providing technical expertise and excellent customer service skills. They will work together with our team of design engineers, quality engineers and the field services administration staff to achieve the business objectives of the company and our customers.

This is a newly created hybrid role which will produce high pressure fluid builds within the Manchester facility but will also be required to cover our maintenance contacts for customers located throughout the UK. Overseas travel and support may be required from time to time.

In addition to annual initiatives, the key accountabilities of this position are:

Key Accountabilities

Production Support

  • Assembling of positive displacement pumping systems to fulfil customers orders.

  • Assembling of fluid and gas systems to fulfil customer orders.

  • Assist in the continuous development of work instructions and standard operating procedures.

  • Pro\-actively communicate and work with members of your own and other departments to ensure standards of service to customers and business objectives are achieved.

  • Support the engineering team with new product development build and testing.
Service/ After Sales
  • Install, commission, repair, overhaul, and service our products ensuring the quality of work meets or exceeds agreed standards.

  • Provide strip down reports to enable repair quotations to be prepared for the customer.

  • Assist with the preparation of site risk assessments and method statements.

  • Provide the highest standards of customer service by being attentive to individual customer’s requirements and ensuring a pro\-active, efficient, and effective response to customers’ needs.

  • To be fully conversant with and responsible for safe working practises in accordance with current health and safety legislation.

  • Provide sales support assistance as required.
Technical Knowledge
  • Maintain an up\-to\-date knowledge of the Company’s product range in order to be able to offer or promote alternative equipment or services to the customer and to note whilst on site any other equipment the Company may offer its services for.

  • Assist the Company by producing clear internal reports relating to product failures and work carried out onsite.

  • Work with the technical team to perform onsite evaluation for maintenance or service contracts.

  • Actively develop your skills and technical knowledge including taking part in on or off the job training

  • To observe all ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
Continuous Improvement
  • To complete concise and accurate reports on work carried out onsite and to complete all other job\-related paperwork accurately and on time

  • To identify elements of our products, services or working practises that could be improved
What We’re Looking For
  • GCSE qualifications (A\-C), A Levels, or an Apprenticeship qualification/HNC.

  • 3\-5 years of relevant work experience preferred.

  • Experience in mechanical and electrical engineering.

  • Proven site experience.

  • Previous experience working in heavy industry.

  • A good knowledge of reciprocating pumps and controls is preferred.

  • A driving licence is essential.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • The ability to write reports/complete paperwork accurately and legibly.

  • The ability to work with minimal supervision in the field.

  • Self\-motivation and commitment to achieving high standards of quality and efficiency.

  • A pro\-active and flexible attitude.

  • PC literate although additional training will be offered.

  • Previous experience in a similar role is beneficial but not essential.
