Senior Transport Planner

You will be responsible for leading the planning and scheduling of all national and regional transport operations — ensuring that our electric and low-emission fleet is utilised to its maximum potential.

This role demands a forward-thinking leader who leverages AI technology, data analytics, and digital planning systems to optimise efficiency, reduce emissions, and deliver outstanding customer service.

As a key member of the Operations leadership team, you play a vital role in driving FSEW’s transformation into a fully connected, sustainable, and technology-enabled logistics provider.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Planning & Fleet Optimisation

• Lead daily and long-term planning for FSEW’s fleet, ensuring efficient deployment of our EV and CNG vehicles


• Prioritise the use of electric HGVs, managing routes, charging schedules, and load planning to maximise range and productivity.


• Assist with the development and manage AI-driven planning tools to optimise route efficiency, backloads, and empty running.


• Integrate Samsara and real-time vehicle performance data to enhance operational decision-making.


• Work closely with the Transport Manager to align planning with vehicle availability and charging infrastructure.


• Continuously refine planning algorithms and systems to reduce mileage, carbon emissions, and cost per mile.

2. Technology & Digital Transformation

• Champion the use of AI, automation, and machine learning in planning and forecasting.


• Lead the evolution of Qargo (TMS), ensuring full integration with our daily operation.


• Utilise data insights to predict demand, plan capacity, and dynamically adjust schedules based on live conditions.


• Identify and trial new technologies that improve fleet efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance customer satisfaction.


• Collaborate with IT and Sustainability teams to ensure technology supports FSEW’s net-zero goals.

3. Customer Service & Communication

• Ensure planning operations deliver exceptional service to all FSEW customers.


• Maintain constant communication with clients, proactively managing expectations, resolving delivery issues, and providing accurate ETA updates.


• Oversee load allocation and scheduling to meet customer time-critical requirements while maintaining cost efficiency.


• Drive a culture of accountability, responsiveness, and excellence within the planning team.


• Provide key account reporting and KPI dashboards to clients and management.

4. Team Leadership & Development

• Lead and mentor any new planners, coordinators, and transport administrators.


• Establish clear objectives and performance measures aligned to company goals.


• Promote collaboration with drivers, transport management, and customer service to ensure seamless execution.


• Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and professional development.
