As a Senior Structural Design Engineer, you will:

  • Take technical responsibility for the delivery of structural design solutions across a range of rail, bridge and infrastructure projects.

  • Lead and contribute to the preparation of structural calculations, detailed designs, drawings, specifications and technical reports.

  • Apply sound engineering judgement to develop practical, cost\-effective and technically robust design solutions.

  • Work independently on technically challenging projects while providing technical guidance and support to less experienced engineers.

  • Undertake design reviews and checking activities to ensure technical quality, compliance and accuracy.

  • Coordinate structural design activities with other disciplines, including civil, geotechnical, environmental and project management teams.

  • Liaise directly with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders, providing technical advice and contributing to project discussions and meetings.

  • Support Technical Leads with the planning, delivery and management of structural engineering commissions.

  • Identify technical risks, design constraints and opportunities and contribute to the development of appropriate engineering solutions.

  • Support the preparation of fee proposals, scopes of work and technical submissions where required.

  • Maintain awareness of project budgets, programmes and deliverables to support successful project delivery.

  • Monitor processes and outputs to ensure compliance with relevant safety, legal, ethical and regulatory requirements.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement within the Rail \& Bridges team and support the development of engineering standards and best practice.

  • Manage projects in compliance with Ayesa Engineering's Integrated Management System (IMS).

  • Represent and promote Ayesa in a professional manner and develop effective working relationships with clients and potential clients.
Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Typically 5\-8\+ years' experience in structural design engineering.

  • Chartered Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), or actively working towards Chartership.

  • Demonstrable experience delivering structural design projects from concept through to detailed design and construction.

  • Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinating structural design with other technical disciplines.

  • Strong experience in delivering structural engineering solutions, calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports for complex engineering projects.

  • Strong understanding of structural behaviour and the application of engineering principles to complex design challenges.

  • Detailed knowledge and practical application of current British Standards, Eurocodes and other relevant design standards.

  • Experience in the design and assessment of bridges, rail infrastructure and other civil engineering structures.

  • Experience in the design and assessment of reinforced concrete, steel and other structural materials.

  • Ability to independently develop technically robust and commercially viable engineering solutions.

  • Experience reviewing and checking structural calculations, drawings and technical documentation.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and project stakeholders and build positive working relationships.

  • Experience supporting, mentoring and developing graduate and junior engineers.

  • Good understanding of project delivery, programme, budget and commercial considerations.

  • Commitment to Continued Professional Development and ongoing technical development.
