Job Description

Qualcomm Cloud is seeking a Software Architect / Software Engineer with deep expertise in Linux user\-space systems and AI frameworks to define and lead software architecture for next\-generation inference platforms built on Qualcomm Cloud AI accelerators (AI 100 and successors).

This role combines technical leadership, architecture ownership, hands\-on development, enabling scalable, high\-performance APIs and runtime capabilities for ML frameworks such as PyTorch.

The ideal candidate will operate across software layers—from framework integration and runtime APIs to system\-level performance optimization—while mentoring engineers and driving architectural direction across teams.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture \& Technical Leadership

• Define and own the end\-to\-end architecture for user\-space APIs and runtime layers enabling ML workloads on Qualcomm AI accelerators.


• Drive design of scalable, performant, and developer\-friendly APIs for frameworks such as PyTorch.


• Establish design patterns, best practices, and technical standards across the software stack.


• Review and approve designs; provide technical guidance to Staff and Senior engineers.

Software Development \& System Integration

• Lead hands\-on development in C/C\+\+ and Python for custom API layers and runtime components.


• Architect and implement multi\-threaded, high\-performance user\-space systems.


• Drive integration across frameworks, runtime, drivers, and hardware acceleration layers.


• Optimize system performance including latency, throughput, and memory utilization.

Cross\-Functional \& Platform Leadership

• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, compiler, and framework teams to ensure cohesive system design.


• Influence product and platform direction through architecture decisions and performance insights.


• Act as a technical point of contact for complex system issues and customer escalations.

Mentorship \& Engineering Excellence

• Mentor engineers across levels; elevate team capabilities through design reviews and technical coaching.


• Drive innovation in architecture and system design, evangelizing new approaches across the organization.

Required Skills and Experience

• 1 2 \+ years of experience in software engineering with strong emphasis on system architecture and design.


• Deep expertise in Linux user\-space development and API design.


• Strong proficiency in C/C\+\+ (1 2 \+ years) and Python.


• Experience designing multi\-threaded and high\-performance systems.


• Solid understanding of SoC architecture (CPU, memory hierarchy, interconnects, IO subsystems).


• Experience with source control and configuration management systems.


• Proven ability to lead architecture across teams and influence technical direction.


• Strong communication skills and ability to drive alignment across cross\-functional stakeholders.

Preferred / Desirable Skills

• Familiarity with CUDA, NCCL, or equivalent accelerator programming models.


• Experience with IREE or ML compiler/runtime stacks.


• Understanding of PyTorch 2\.0 (PT2\) architecture and execution model.


• Knowledge of high\-speed interfaces such as PCIe and RoCE .


• Experience with large\-scale or heterogeneous compute systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6\+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

OR

Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5\+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

OR

PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4\+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

• 3\+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C\+\+, Java, Python, etc.
