Location: Guildford
Salary: £70,000 to £75,000 plus package

We are working with a well-established national contractor that is looking to appoint a Senior Site Manager for a major student accommodation project in Guildford.

The project is a new-build scheme valued at over £50 million, delivering more than 250 student bedrooms across several multi-storey blocks. The construction programme includes demolition and enabling works, piling, groundworks and drainage, followed by a reinforced concrete frame, external envelope and full internal fit-out. The completed development will also include communal areas, ground-floor commercial space, cycle storage, landscaping and associated external works

The Senior Site Manager will be heavily focused on the day-to-day delivery of the project, reporting directly to a site-based Project Director. You will manage subcontractors, coordinate works on site and ensure the project is delivered safely, to programme and to the required quality standards. This is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys being site-based and taking ownership of the construction programme rather than working in a predominantly administrative role.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day delivery of the project.


• Coordinate subcontractors, materials and site activities.


• Monitor the construction programme and report progress to the Project Director.


• Maintain high standards of health and safety across the site.


• Oversee quality control, inspections and snagging.


• Chair subcontractor meetings and resolve site issues.


• Work closely with the design, commercial and technical teams.


• Support the project through construction, fit-out and handover.

• Previous experience working as a Senior Site Manager on large new-build schemes.


• Experience delivering student accommodation, residential, hotels or other multi-room developments would be beneficial.


• Strong knowledge of internal fit-out and finishing packages.


• Confident managing subcontractors and driving the programme.


• Comfortable working as part of a site-based management team and reporting to a Project Director.


• SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications.


• Located within a reasonable travelling distance of Guildford.
