Senior Service Designer

Adecco are recruiting on behalf of a London Borough Council for an experienced Senior Service Designer to join their Insight & Innovation Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in transforming public services through user-centred design, digital innovation, and evidence-based decision making. Working at the heart of the organisation, you'll collaborate with senior stakeholders, multidisciplinary teams, and residents to design services that improve outcomes and deliver meaningful change.

About the Role

As a Senior Service Designer, you will lead service design activity across digital transformation programmes, helping to redesign and improve services for residents. You'll use a range of service design techniques to understand user needs, map customer journeys, develop prototypes, and support the delivery of effective, accessible, and sustainable solutions.

Working within agile, multidisciplinary teams, you'll collaborate with developers, business analysts, researchers, delivery managers, operational teams, and senior leaders to ensure services are designed around user needs and organisational priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead service design activities within digital transformation projects.


• Conduct discovery work using qualitative and quantitative research methods.


• Create customer journey maps, service blueprints, and design artefacts.


• Facilitate workshops and co-design sessions with residents, stakeholders, and service teams.


• Design, test, and iterate prototypes and service improvements.


• Support the implementation and evaluation of new services and processes.


• Promote user-centred design and continuous improvement across the organisation.


• Coach and support colleagues in service design principles and methodologies.

We are looking for someone who has:

• A degree in Service Design, Behavioural Science, Psychology, Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.


• At least 3 years' professional experience in a Service Design role.


• Significant experience delivering end-to-end service design for digital products or services.


• Strong knowledge of service design methodologies including discovery, co-design, prototyping, implementation, and evaluation.


• Experience working in agile multidisciplinary teams.


• Excellent workshop facilitation and stakeholder management skills.


• The ability to influence decision-making and drive user-centred approaches.


• Experience using research, insight, and systems thinking to solve complex problems.


• A passion for improving public services and resident outcomes.
