We're looking for an experienced Senior Server to join the team at Pecks Restaurant in Congleton.
Pecks is an AA Rosette fine dining restaurant and part of Pear Hospitality Group, a family\-operated collection of restaurants, bars and hospitality venues across Cheshire and the North West.
Pecks isn't a conventional restaurant.
Our week includes Lunch, High Tea, our famous Dinner at Eight experience and Sunday Lunch, each requiring a different style of service while maintaining the same attention to detail and warm hospitality that Pecks is known for.
We're looking for someone with genuine experience in high\-quality hospitality who is confident on the restaurant floor, passionate about great service and able to help set the standard for the rest of the team.
About the Role
As a Senior Server, you'll be an important part of the Pecks front\-of\-house team.
You'll work closely with the Restaurant Manager and wider team to deliver polished, knowledgeable and personable service.
This is a hands\-on position. You'll have your own section and look after guests throughout their experience, but as one of the more experienced members of the team, we'll also expect you to lead by example and support the development of less experienced colleagues.
You'll be responsible for:
- Delivering exceptional service throughout Lunch, High Tea, Dinner at Eight and Sunday services
- Taking ownership of your section and ensuring guests are looked after throughout their visit
- Building a strong knowledge of our menus, ingredients and cooking techniques
- Confidently presenting and explaining dishes to guests
- Developing your knowledge of wine and drinks
- Making recommendations and helping guests get the most from their experience
- Maintaining Pecks' fine dining service standards
- Supporting and coaching less experienced members of the team
- Helping prepare the restaurant before service and maintaining presentation throughout
- Communicating closely with the kitchen and front\-of\-house team
- Anticipating guests' needs rather than simply reacting to them
- Creating the warm, professional and personal style of hospitality that Pecks is known for
One of the things that makes Pecks particularly different is our famous Dinner at Eight.
It's a theatrical fine dining experience where our front\-of\-house team plays an important role in bringing the menu to life.
Courses are presented to the restaurant and dishes are explained to guests, including the ingredients, flavours and techniques behind them.
For that reason, we're looking for someone who enjoys learning about food and is comfortable speaking confidently and knowledgeably to guests.
You don't need to arrive knowing every dish or every wine on the list — but you do need to have the enthusiasm and professionalism to learn.
Who We're Looking For
Previous experience in a fine dining or high\-quality restaurant environment is essential.
You might currently be a Senior Waiter/Waitress, Head Waiter, Chef de Rang or an experienced Server looking for a position where your knowledge and experience will be valued.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous fine dining or premium restaurant experience
- Is confident managing their own section
- Has excellent attention to detail
- Understands the pace and standards expected in a fine dining environment
- Is comfortable presenting and explaining dishes
- Has a genuine interest in food, wine and hospitality
- Communicates naturally and professionally with guests
- Enjoys helping develop less experienced team members
- Remains calm and organised during busy services
- Takes pride in doing things properly
Hours \& Flexibility
Pecks operates Wednesday to Sunday, and you'll need to be available for a mixture of evenings and weekends.
However, we're flexible about how the role is structured and are happy to discuss the number of hours and shifts worked with the right person.
That makes this an opportunity that could suit someone looking for anything from a smaller number of regular weekly shifts through to a more substantial part\-time position.
