Senior Security Engineer, Detection & Response

We’re looking for a Senior Security Engineer to help improve Snap’s ability to detect, investigate, and respond to security threats.

You will build and tune detections, support investigations, develop automation, and partner with teams across Snap to improve security visibility and response workflows.

What You’ll Do
------------------

• Build and improve detections across endpoint, cloud, infrastructure, SaaS, and network environments


• Support logging, alerting, triage, and monitoring improvements


• Investigate security alerts and contribute to incident response


• Develop automation to improve detection, triage, and response workflows


• Contribute to threat hunting, detection tuning, and response playbooks


• Turn threat intelligence and investigation findings into practical detection improvements


• Partner with security, infrastructure, and engineering teams to improve coverage

What You’ll Bring
---------------------

• 4\+ years of relevant security experience, or Master’s with 3\+ years, or PhD with 1\+ year


• Experience in detection and response, incident response, security operations, forensics, malware analysis, threat intelligence, or security engineering


• Strong coding or scripting skills in Python, Go, or a similar language


• Solid systems knowledge in at least two of: macOS, Windows, Linux, Kubernetes, AWS, GCP


• Experience working with cloud, endpoint, network, infrastructure, or SaaS security data


• Strong judgement, clear communication, and a collaborative mindset

Nice to Have
----------------

• Experience with threat hunting or detection engineering


• Familiarity with Google Cloud, Google Workspace, and AWS


• Experience with SIEM, EDR, SOAR, data pipelines, or security analytics platforms


• Familiarity with MITRE ATT\&CK, attacker tradecraft, and detection coverage mapping
