Senior Children's Residential Support Worker (Level 3 Qualified or working towards)

Location: Linton, Swadlincote, South Derbyshire

Salary: Competitive (based on experience)

Hours: Full\-time, 40 hours per week (Shift pattern to include days, evenings, nights, weekends, bank holidays, sleep\-ins and lone working)

Your Role

As a Level 3 qualified (or working towards) Senior Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the physical, emotional, and daily care needs of children and young people are met within a supportive, homely, and professional environment. You will play a vital role in helping us to deliver OFSTED GOOD or better outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you’ll ensure young people receive the care, guidance, and opportunities they need to flourish. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building Positive Relationships: Establish meaningful connections with young people, assessing their needs and working collaboratively to create and implement individualised care plans.

  • Promoting Independence: Support children in developing life skills, managing their behaviour, and enhancing their confidence and social skills.

  • Creating a Homely Environment: Contribute to a welcoming, safe, and stimulating atmosphere, ensuring cultural, spiritual, and individual needs are respected.

  • Daily Care Tasks: Assist with cooking, cleaning, gardening, and other household duties, maintaining a high standard of care and cleanliness.

  • Organising Activities: Plan and participate in engaging activities to inspire and empower young people.

  • Key working: Act as a keyworker, delivering one\-to\-one sessions and maintaining accurate records and reports.

  • Safeguarding: Act promptly and responsibly to address safeguarding concerns, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the children.

  • Teamwork and Communication: Work closely and supervise colleagues. Work alongside families, schools, and external professionals to support the young person’s needs.

  • Managing Shifts: Take responsibility for shift management when required.

  • Professional Meetings: Attend and contribute to court proceedings, child protection conferences, panels, and other professional meetings, providing reports and information as required.

  • Continuous Development: Engage in designated projects and stay informed about developments and best practices within the care profession.

  • Support: Provide support and cover in other future care homes when needed, maintaining high standards of care and professionalism.
What We’re Looking For

· A kind, caring, and compassionate individual who is resilient, respectful, and inclusive.

· Experience supporting children or young people with social, emotional, or behavioural challenges (formal or informal experience welcomed).

· Ability to work shifts, including overnight sleep\-ins.

· Commitment to professional development through training, supervision, and teamwork.

Essential Requirements

· Applicants must be 21 years or older (as per children’s home regulations).

· Willingness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check.

· A full UK manual driving licence.

· Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care (Willing to progress to Level 4/5\).
