Senior Research Associate, Flow Cytometry

<p></p></div><p><strong>Primary Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Supporting all internal/external research programs.</li>
<li>Execute specimen preparation, staining and sample acquisition of flow cytometric data.</li>
<li>Perform cell sorting on BD FACS Melody, FACSAria Fusion or BD FACS Symphony S6.</li>
<li>Design, plan, and execute assay development and/or platform development within the core flow cytometry group and cross-functionally.</li>
<li>Perform flow data analyses and interpretation, and present data at group meetings.</li>
<li>Maintain electronic notebook record of performed experiments.</li>
<li>Provide basic training to researcher on various flow cytometers and cell sorters.</li>
<li>Evaluate and troubleshoot instrument issues.</li>
<li>Assist in coordinating core lab logistics (e.g. user scheduling, vendor/maintenance calls, etc.)</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) with five years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience, or a master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) with two years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience, with degree fields in biology, immunology, cell biology, molecular biology, pharmaceutical sciences, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, biotechnology or a closely related field, and demonstrated experience in all of the following:</li>
</ul>
<p>(a) performing high-parameter flow cytometry analyses of hematopoietic stem and immune cell subsets, and,</p>
<p>(b) designing and executing flow-based assay development for preclinical or translational research; and,</p>
<p>(c) conducting quantitative flow cytometry data analysis using FlowJo or FCS Express; and,</p>
<p>(d) troubleshooting instrument performance and coordinating maintenance; and,</p>
<p>(e) operating and maintaining high-parameter flow cytometers and cell sorters.</p>
<p><strong>Other Information:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Permanent, full-time, immediately available, job opportunity;</li>
<li>Does not require travel (role is substantially laboratory-based, in-house);</li>
<li>Not permitted to telecommute, i.e., cannot exclusively work remotely from home;</li>
<li>Must live in the City of Cambridge, MA, or within a reasonable, daily commuting distance thereof (e.g., areas contemplated can include the City of Boston, the larger Greater Boston region, or Massachusetts’ MetroWest, North or South Shore communities);</li>
<li>Beam’s headquarters is at 238 Main Street, Cambridge, MA 02142 and this is the primary worksite for the role long-term; and</li>
<li>Role is not a supervisory role and does not have subordinate, direct reports. This is a hands-on, individual contributor position.</li>
