Senior Project Coordinator – Manufacturing \& Construction
Mid Kent (only drivers with own transport can be considered due to location)
£35,000–£45,000 DOE \| Permanent \| Office based
*Are you an experienced project professional from a manufacturing, engineering, fabrication or construction background who enjoys solving problems, planning ahead and keeping complicated projects under control?*
We’re recruiting on an exclusive basis for an established and growing business supplying bespoke products into technical project environments. This is a varied, hands\-on position with genuine responsibility for taking projects from initial handover through production, supply and final delivery.
You’ll coordinate multiple live projects, bringing structure to changing priorities and ensuring customers, suppliers and colleagues have the information they need at the right time. It’s an excellent opportunity for someone who combines technical understanding with strong project\-management capability and isn’t afraid to question information, investigate an issue or propose a practical solution.
Key responsibilities include:
- Taking ownership of projects from internal handover through to completion
- Creating and maintaining project plans, programmes, Gantt charts and trackers
- Monitoring critical dates, dependencies, risks and outstanding actions
- Planning ahead to identify potential delays before they affect delivery
- Reviewing technical drawings, specifications and supporting documentation
- Coordinating customer approvals and changes
- Liaising with suppliers, production partners and logistics providers
- Tracking materials, manufacturing stages, quality requirements and delivery dates
- Confirming that products and documentation are ready before transport is arranged
- Managing several concurrent projects and reprioritising when circumstances change
- Monitoring costs, variations and the commercial effect of delays or rework
- Keeping customers informed through clear, proactive communication
- Investigating problems and following corrective actions through to completion
- Maintaining accurate records across internal systems
- Attending occasional supplier, customer or project meetings
- Experience in project coordination, project management or project delivery
- A background in manufacturing, engineering, fabrication, construction or a comparable technical sector
- A relevant engineering, construction or project\-management qualification, or substantial equivalent experience
- Experience managing multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines
- The confidence to interpret technical drawings, specifications and project information
- An understanding of manufacturing processes, lead times and supply\-chain dependencies
- Experience dealing with customers, suppliers, subcontractors or production partners
- Strong forward\-planning and problem\-solving skills
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of how changes and delays affect cost
- Good Microsoft Excel skills, with the ability to create and use formulas as a minimum
- Experience producing project programmes, timelines or Gantt charts
- A full UK driving licence
The ideal candidate profile:
You’ll be calm, analytical and highly organised, with the confidence to hold your own in challenging conversations. You’ll notice when something doesn’t look right, ask sensible questions and take responsibility for finding a way forward.
This won’t suit someone who simply records progress after it happens. The business needs a proactive Project Coordinator who thinks several steps ahead, maintains momentum and ensures details don’t become last\-minute problems.
