Senior Payroll Manager

Our client is a well respected professional services firm who are long established and respected in the local area. They have a great role which is ideal for a Senior Payroll person seeking their next move!
Key Responsibilities
- Management of your office’s client payroll function, working flexibly to meet deadlines.
- Responsible for the management of all hub team members, including day to day line management, ongoing support and oversight, attainment of KPIs, appraisals etc
- Plan and organise client payroll processing according to client wages and salaries payment deadlines, allocating payroll client portfolios to team members appropriately
- Maintain own technical and professional standards to highest level
- Take a lead role in training and developing including on the job training for team members
- Ensure compliance with risk management procedures, ethical and data protection standards
- Responsible for New Payroll Client engagement processes
- Develop and maintain excellent client relations, and provide technical payroll support for both payroll and non-payroll clients
- Provide payroll support to colleagues in other departments
- Ensure availability of a payroll contact for clients during office hours
- Responsible for payroll services billing and WIP and increasing fees
- Support the marketing of the payroll department to grow the payroll portfolio
- Liaise with government bodies on behalf of client payroll queries
- Responsible for authorisation of client Direct Bacs payroll payments
- Responsible for ensuring that client statutory returns to TPR are submitted by the appropriate deadlines
- Responsible for clients CIS Tax Deducted returns to HMRC
Skills and Qualities Required
- Minimum of five years’ post qualified practical experience of payroll management in a bureau environment
- CIPP Foundation degree qualified (or working towards) with continued membership attained through meeting CPD requirements - preferred
- Maintain the highest technical and professional standards
- Ability to monitor and control staff
- In-depth knowledge of payroll calculations and processing, including manual calculations
- Have goods communication skills
- Have good time management skills
- Have good planning and organising skills
- Keen attention to detail
- Proficient in relevant payroll software and Microsoft Office applications
- Understand and support the strategy of the firm with a flexible approach to manage change
- Self-motivated and committed to provide an excellent service to both clients and colleagues
- Have good people skills
- Be a capable leader able to influence morale
- Have good delegation skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritise to ensure multiple deadlines are met
- Ability to effectively network in order to promote the firm and gain referrals and new clients
