Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Senior Operations Manager to provide leadership across our manufacturing and operational functions.
This is a senior, hands\-on operational role with responsibility for ensuring production and warehouse activities are effectively planned, resourced and managed to deliver customer requirements, productivity targets, quality standards and business objectives.
Working closely with Department Heads and reporting to the Directors, you will drive operational performance, develop your management team and lead continuous improvement across the site. A key part of the role will be introducing and embedding LEAN methodologies, improving OEE and productivity, and delivering measurable operational change.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and develop direct reports, promoting accountability, performance and effective leadership across operational teams.
- Ensure production planning processes are effective and optimised to meet customer requirements and Company objectives.
- Maintain regular liaison across operational teams to manage customer service requirements, promotional activity, new product launches, distribution changes and seasonal demand.
- Monitor Production and Warehouse performance and work with relevant managers to resolve operational issues.
- Ensure staffing levels are effectively managed to achieve productivity and output targets whilst controlling budgeted wage costs.
- Ensure effective operating systems and controls are maintained so products are manufactured and packaged in accordance with Company specifications and quality requirements.
- Continually review working practices, processes and packaging methods to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment, ensuring machinery is operated by trained and competent employees and health and safety procedures are understood, followed and regularly audited.
- Ensure appropriate employee training, PPE and associated records are maintained.
- Work closely with the Engineering Manager to ensure effective planned maintenance arrangements are in place and coordinate operational requirements around maintenance activity.
- Use OEE data, output and downtime information to monitor productivity and machine efficiency, identify recurring issues and drive corrective action and improvement.
- Lead and manage KPI decks, 100\-day plans, SMART objectives and operational projects.
- Introduce and embed LEAN methodologies across direct reports and the wider business.
- Drive continuous improvement and operational change, using data and root\-cause analysis to identify and implement sustainable improvements.
- Chair the daily morning meeting with Department Heads.
- Work with Quality and SHE colleagues to support root\-cause analysis and delivery of required improvements.
- Support recommendations relating to investment in new plant and machinery, including installation and commissioning.
- Support new product introduction by determining the most appropriate production machinery and processes.
- Manage product sample requirements and ensure quality is monitored prior to release.
- Take a commercial approach to the purchasing of materials, consumables and services, maintaining appropriate spend controls and authorisations.
- Report operational performance, priorities, risks and improvement activity to the Directors.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Strong operational leadership and people management skills within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience leading and developing managers and operational teams.
- Working knowledge and practical experience of LEAN methodologies.
- Experience using OEE, KPIs and operational data to drive performance and improvement.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Proven ability to identify problems, establish root causes and deliver effective solutions.
- Experience driving and delivering operational change and continuous improvement.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to work with employees, managers and Directors.
- Good analytical and decision\-making skills.
- A proactive, self\-motivated and commercially aware approach.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office packages.
- Experience of Winman or similar ERP/manufacturing systems would be advantageous.

Pay: £55,000\.00\-£60,000\.00 per year
