We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health team at HMP Fosse Way, a Category C resettlement prison in Leicester.
HMP Fosse Way opened in May 2023\. Its state of the art design and facilities offer a secure environment to provide skills and qualifications to the men, enabling them to secure meaningful employment on release with the aim of reducing reoffending rates.
You will be a mental health nurse working within the substance misuse team, you will be based within the healthcare department and clinics based on prison wings.
Hours:
- Monday \- Sunday service \- 37\.5 hours per week
- 7am \- 8pm
- 1 weekend in 4
This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary between £43,609 \- £49,175 per annum \- depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
As a Senior Mental Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will
- Work within a multi\-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options
- Undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic
- Assess patient’s health needs using an evidence based framework and be able to risk assess use sound clinical knowledge
- You will work with individuals providing advice, support and information and manage a case load of patients.
- Deliver non\-judgemental care that makes a real difference
- You will monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects liaising with prescribers as required.
- Inspire excellence by forging strong links with our partners and stakeholders
- Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence based care
- Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multi\-disciplinary teams

Qualifications required:
- Qualified Mental Health Nurse \- NMC registration
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development
- Experience of working with patients, face to face, who have complex mental health conditions
- Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work and awareness of substance misuse
