<p><strong>Join the heart of Adyen’s Platform Engineering</strong></p>
<p>With over 100 engineering teams contributing to our ecosystem, Platform Engineering provides the foundations that enable Adyen to grow reliably. We deliver shared components that help teams build secure, reliable, and high-performing products and services.</p>
<p>The Application Services team develops platform-wide, business-agnostic capabilities such as secret management, service discovery, and feature flagging. We address a broad variety of company-wide challenges, from modernizing internally developed infrastructure and adopting proven industry standards to raising security standards across Adyen.</p>
<p>Our work includes initiatives such as migrating workloads from Nomad to Kubernetes and exploring migration paths from established technologies toward modern application runtimes and frameworks. We design safe adoption strategies that allow teams to modernize without disrupting business-critical services.</p>

<p><strong>As a Senior Java Engineer, you will:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Lead the design and delivery of foundational services used by engineering teams across Adyen</li>
<li>Drive complex, cross-team initiatives from problem discovery through production adoption</li>
<li>Partner with product managers and engineers to identify shared platform needs and define priorities</li>
<li>Design and evolve APIs, including compatibility, migration, and adoption strategies</li>
<li>Architect resilient solutions spanning multiple data centers</li>
<li>Own the deployment, observability, operation, and continuous improvement of live services</li>
<li>Gather and use developer feedback to improve the reliability, usability, and adoption of platform services</li>
<li>Mentor engineers and raise technical standards within the team</li>
</ul>
<h1> </h1>
<p><strong>Requirements</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>7+ years of backend software development experience</li>
<li>Proficiency in Java and a strong understanding of the JVM</li>
<li>Experience working with Postgres or similar relational databases</li>
<li>Experience with CI/CD, observability, performance analysis, and incident response</li>
<li>Ability to lead ambiguous technical initiatives involving multiple teams</li>
<li>Proven experience designing and operating distributed systems</li>
<li>A product-oriented approach to software development</li>
<li>Willingness to operate, deploy, and troubleshoot applications in a live production environment</li>
</ul>

<li>Experience with large-scale, multi-region, or mission-critical systems</li>
<li>Knowledge of authentication, authorization, encryption, and other security practices</li>
<li>Experience building internal platforms focused on developer autonomy</li>
<li>Experience leading platform migrations or driving adoption across a large engineering organization</li>
