Senior Finance Officer

Lancaster | Circa £35,000 | Permanent | Full-Time

Are you an experienced finance all-rounder looking for a varied role where you can really get involved?

We’re working with an established business in Lancaster who are looking to appoint a Senior Finance Officer to join their finance team.

This is a really varied role for someone who enjoys getting involved in different areas of finance and the wider business. You’ll be a dependable pair of hands within the team, helping to keep things organised, accurate and running smoothly.

It’s not a traditional management accounting role, and you don’t need to be qualified or part-qualified. We’re looking for someone practical, approachable and happy to get stuck in.

The Role

You’ll have a broad remit across finance and will get involved with things such as:

• Cash management, banking and cash flow reporting


• VAT returns and indirect tax


• General accounting and reconciliations


• Fixed assets


• Accounts payable and accounts receivable support


• Invoice processing and general finance administration


• Insurance renewals and broker liaison


• Company secretarial and general business administration


• Legal and property-related matters


• ONS and statutory reporting


• Payroll support


• General support across the wider finance team

What we’re looking for

This could suit someone currently working as a Senior Finance Officer, Senior Bookkeeper, Finance Officer, experienced Accounts Assistant or Accounts Administrator.

You might also be an Office Manager with a strong finance background or an experienced finance all-rounder from an SME environment.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has solid, practical finance experience


• Is comfortable with reconciliations, VAT and general finance processes


• Is organised and pays attention to detail


• Is confident using Excel and Microsoft Office


• Is approachable and happy to be a first point of contact


• Enjoys variety and doesn’t mind getting involved in transactional finance


• Is reliable, self-motivated and happy to take ownership


• Is the sort of person who sees something that needs doing and gets on with it

A finance qualification would be beneficial but isn’t essential.
