The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Senior Finance Business Partner to join a high-performing finance team. This is a strategic leadership position offering the opportunity to influence business performance, drive financial decision-making, and support senior stakeholders across a complex organisation.
Reporting to the Deputy Director of Finance, you will provide expert financial leadership, partnering with operational and non-operational teams to deliver financial objectives, improve performance, and maximise value across the business. You will also lead a small team and play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, business cases, procurement, contract management, and organisational planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted finance business partner to senior leaders and operational managers.
- Lead the preparation and delivery of monthly management accounts and financial performance reporting.
- Drive budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Develop and monitor cost improvement and savings initiatives, providing challenge and support where required.
- Prepare, review, and evaluate business cases, ensuring financial implications are clearly understood.
- Support costing and pricing activities for existing and new services.
- Lead financial modelling and analytical work to support strategic decision-making.
- Oversee procurement and contract management processes, ensuring value for money and compliance.
- Deliver insightful financial reports and presentations to senior leadership teams and governance committees.
- Develop robust financial controls, reporting systems, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead, coach, and develop Finance Business Partners and wider finance team members.
To be successful in this role, you will be a qualified accountant with strong financial leadership and business partnering experience gained within a large and complex organisation.
Essential Requirements
- Fully qualified CCAB or CIMA accountant with current professional membership.
- Significant post-qualification experience in financial management and business partnering.
- Strong experience producing financial reports and performance analysis for senior stakeholders.
- Proven people management and leadership experience.
- Advanced Excel and financial systems expertise.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience supporting operational decision-making.
- Demonstrable experience in budgeting, forecasting, business planning, and financial control.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to influence and challenge constructively at senior management level.
- Project management experience.
- Procurement and contract management experience.
- Experience of benchmarking, service reviews, and efficiency programmes.
- Exposure to both public and private sector environments.
- A highly visible leadership position with significant stakeholder engagement.
