The Senior Finance Assistant, reporting into the Finance Manager, will be responsible for supporting month end and heading up the transactional finance team. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast paced environment and take a positive, proactive approach to the work at hand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage month\-end accounting activities, including accruals, prepayments, fixed asset accounting, and balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Oversee day\-to\-day Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and bank reconciliation processes, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.

  • Supervise, support, and develop the Purchase Ledger Clerk to maintain efficient finance operations.

  • Manage the company credit card programme, ensuring compliance with company policies and accurate expense reporting.

  • Drive process improvements and support the implementation of AI and automation initiatives to enhance finance efficiency and controls.

  • Supporting the Finance Manager and assisting with any other ad hoc queries or tasks

Skills/Experience required
  • Fully qualified or part\-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)

  • Strong knowledge of month\-end processes and management accounting

  • Experience preparing management accounts and financial reporting

  • Understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

  • Knowledge of VAT reporting and financial compliance requirements

  • Experience with stock reporting and valuation

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence using financial systems

  • Experience supporting audits and year\-end processes

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience working within a retail, fashion, ecommerce, or consumer brand environment advantageous

  • Ability to support FP\&A activities and commercial decision\-making
