60978Are you interested in joining one of the leading international consulting companies that creates value and solutions to some of the most complex issues worldwide? Do you want to be part of this daily puzzle, contributing to projects and developing the methods and tools we use to solve the challenges that arise? Then join us, as we are now looking for an Engineer for our Risk and Dynamics discipline focusing on different topics related to structural health monitoring and general dynamics.
JOIN OUR RISK AND DYNAMICS TEAM IN LYNGBY
The Risk and Dynamics discipline is an integral part of COWI’s infrastructure business and resides in our main office in Kongens Lyngby, Denmark. With regard to the specific field of dynamics, we support the entire COWI Group with applications within Bridges, Tunnels, Offshore Wind Farms, and Buildings with a special focus on:
- Structural Health Monitoring (SHM)
- Assessment, prediction, and mitigation of vibrations from railways and construction activities
- Data\-driven and parametric modelling of structural vibrations.
- Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) with a focus on vibrations
- Rail/structure interaction analysis
- Vibration/oscillation mitigation for various structures or structural elements
- Dynamic loading of structure
A POSITION THAT WILL LEVERAGE YOUR DEVELOPMENT FURTHER
In this position, you will join our global team of experts working primarily within structural health monitoring of civil infrastructure and within general dynamics projects. You will work closely with project managers and domain specialists and your main tasks in our team will be:
- Participation in structural health monitoring projects of civil infrastructure. Typical tasks include preparation of performance specifications for monitoring systems, definition of monitoring purpose in dialogue with key stakeholders, interpretation and analysis of sensor data to fulfil the purpose of different monitoring campaigns, project coordination and preparation of reports summarizing project outcomes. Currently we are involved with an increasing number of projects including several iconic cable\-supported bridges around the globe, immersed tunnels, offshore wind turbine foundations and special structures.
- Participation in general dynamic projects including vibration assessment and definition of vibration mitigation measures of new railway projects (metros, trams, etc.), ad hoc short\-term measurement campaigns (e.g. to assess vibration levels and define mitigations, to assess fatigue demands, etc.) and construction monitoring tasks.
- Maintain and further develop and document in\-house tools in Python / Git to process, visualize and report e.g. structural health monitoring data
- Engage with project stakeholders to understand the issues and problems in question.
- Document the work from the above activities through reports and presentations.
- There may be the possibility to get involved with other tasks, e.g. risk analysis and structural design, as a possible addition to the primary role described above.
YOUR SKILLS. OUR TEAM. TOGETHER, WE DESIGN THE FUTURE
Your skills are the key to our growth. In our work that spans different countries and areas of expertise, we engage in the mutual sharing of knowledge and the cultivation of enduring bonds with both colleagues and customers. You contribute with your expertise and get to learn from experienced colleagues.
This role demands a candidate who is skilled in English writing and speaking and enjoys contributing to a joint effort.
Furthermore, you should have:
- Completed a master's degree or a PhD in civil engineering (preferably) or mechanical engineering, with focus on structural engineering and structural dynamics. Some years of experience in similar industry roles are expected for this position.
- Several years of practical experience in one of the two following areas: EITHER structural health monitoring including structural dynamics concepts, vibrations, signal processing, and statistics OR railway\-induced vibrations.
- Ability and interest to quickly familiarise yourself with the other of the two aforementioned areas
- Experience and significant interest in data processing using Python / Jupyter notebooks using Git.
- Interest in understanding structural behaviour via the insight provided by monitoring data to solve specific structural issues and provide value to our clients.
- Structured approach to tasks, with focus on details, quality assurance (including coding) and documentation.
- Willingness to work in the field from time to time supervising the installation of monitoring systems and deploying short\-term measurement campaigns with in\-house equipment.
