Senior Electrical Estimator

Overview
Anelec is a growing business working across commercial, industrial and residential sectors, with a strong and expanding focus on renewable energy including solar PV, EV charging infrastructure, battery storage and heat pump integration. As we scale, we need an experienced estimator to take ownership of our tendering function and help drive the business forward.

This is a senior, autonomous role. You'll lead on estimates from enquiry to submission, working closely with engineers, project managers, and the wider commercial team. We're a close\-knit business, and we value people who are engaged with the whole project lifecycle. Alongside estimating, you'll have involvement in supplier relationships, procurement strategy, and commercial oversight of live projects.

Responsibilities

• Taking ownership of the full estimating process from receipt of tender documentation through to competitive, well\-considered submissions.


• Preparing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for electrical works across commercial, industrial, and residential projects, including renewable technologies (solar PV, EV charging, battery storage, heat pumps).


• Interpreting drawings, specifications and technical documents to produce accurate take\-offs and pricing.


• Liaising with suppliers, manufacturers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and technical information.


• Contributing to procurement decisions and supplier strategy, including supporting the ordering and management of materials on live projects.


• Collaborating with engineers and project managers to ensure technically sound, commercially viable solutions.


• Attending site visits and pre\-tender meetings, building relationships with clients and consultants.


• Evaluating subcontractor quotes and managing procurement for electrical packages.

Essential:

• Proven experience as an electrical estimator, with a track record of preparing and winning competitive tenders.


• Strong knowledge of UK electrical standards, including BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations).


• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications accurately.


• Commercial acumen, understanding of margins, risk and what makes a tender competitive.


• Strong numeracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work to deadlines.


• A collaborative approach, comfortable working across a small, multi\-disciplinary team and contributing beyond a narrow job description.

• Experience with renewable energy systems including solar PV, EV infrastructure, battery storage, or heat pumps.


• HNC/HND or degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline (or equivalent trade background).


• Familiarity with AutoCAD and electrical estimating software.


• Experience of materials procurement and supplier management.


• Knowledge of CIBSE guidance, Part L, and SAP assessment processes.
