The Senior Digital Content Officer will play a leading role in one of the University's most significant digital transformation projects: the redevelopment of our website and intranet.

Working within the Digital Team in the Marketing and Communications Directorate, the postholder will lead the content strategy, governance and migration workstreams across both platforms. They will be responsible for auditing and restructuring existing content, developing information architecture and content models, and ensuring content is user\-centred, accessible and aligned with the University's strategic objectives.

Acting as the University's subject matter expert in content design, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO), the role will work closely with senior stakeholders, academic schools, professional services colleagues and external suppliers to create high\-quality digital experiences that support student recruitment, commercial priorities and internal engagement.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of St Mary's digital presence from the ground up, influencing how prospective students, staff and stakeholders experience the University online.

Candidate Summary:

The ideal candidate is an experienced digital content professional with a strong background in content strategy and content design across websites and digital channels. They will be highly experienced in creating engaging content that meets user needs and organisational objectives.

They should be highly confident working with senior stakeholders, able to influence and challenge constructively, manage competing priorities and drive projects forward independently. Exceptional writing, editing and proof\-reading skills are essential, alongside a strong understanding of user experience principles and audience\-centred content design.

Candidates should have substantial experience using CMS platforms, SEO tools and web analytics platforms such as GA4, Google Search Console and SEMrush to improve content performance and inform decision\-making. Knowledge of accessibility standards, higher education sector, and emerging AI\-driven search and discovery trends would be advantageous.
