At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission\-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting\-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your impact
This is your moment to be part of something bigger. Across the UK, the water sector is seeing its largest transformation and investment in decades — and you’ll be right at the forefront. As a Senior Civil Engineer at Jacobs, you won’t just design infrastructure — you’ll help future\-proof essential services, protect communities, and create sustainable water solutions that matter.

You’ll lead the delivery of critical civil design packages, influence buildable, innovative solutions, and work shoulder\-to\-shoulder with multidisciplinary teams to turn ambitious ideas into tangible outcomes. From concept through to construction, your decisions will shape real\-world impact every day.

Join a team where technical excellence meets real\-world delivery. We’re growing to support major AMP cycles and long\-term frameworks, and we’re looking for experienced engineers to step into high\-profile Design \& Build (D\&B) programmes. In this role, you will:

  • Own technical delivery of civil design solutions for water and wastewater infrastructure

  • Lead detailed design in collaborative, contractor\-led environments, embedding constructability from day one

  • Influence project outcomes by integrating safety, sequencing, access, and commissioning into your designs

  • Work directly with construction and commercial teams to solve challenges in real time on live projects

  • Elevate standards through design assurance, quality reviews, and technical leadership

  • Mentor developing engineers and play a key role in building the next generation of talent

At Jacobs, we’re committed to Beyond Zero — our approach to safety, sustainability and positive impact — and you’ll help embed these principles into everything we deliver.

And for you? This is more than a role — it’s a platform to grow.

  • Clear pathway to Principal Engineer and beyond

  • Exposure to major regulated programmes shaping the UK’s infrastructure future

  • Opportunities to deepen your technical leadership and delivery expertise

  • Flexible working that supports you and your life

  • A culture that genuinely invests in your development, progression and Chartership

Here's what you'll need
We’re looking for engineers who bring both technical strength and delivery mindset:

Essential:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)

  • Experience delivering detailed design for water/wastewater infrastructure, ideally in D\&B environments

  • Strong understanding of UK design standards, specifications and regulatory frameworks

  • Confidence to work with autonomy, sound judgement and accountability

  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across design and construction teams

  • Working toward or holding Chartered status (ICE or equivalent)
Desirable:
  • Experience supporting live construction projects

  • Knowledge of NEC3 / NEC4 contracts

  • Track record of mentoring or guiding junior engineers

  • Familiarity with digital engineering tools and BIM environments
