Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Care Assistant to join our team within a reputable care home. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for providing high\-quality care to our residents. This role offers an opportunity to supervise and support junior staff while ensuring personalised care plans are effectively implemented. The Senior Care Assistant will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment for all residents.

Duties

  • Lead and supervise care staff to deliver compassionate and professional assistance to residents.

  • Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal care, mobility, and medication management in accordance with individual care plans.

  • Develop, review, and update personalised care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals and family members.

  • Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing, recognising any changes that may require medical attention or intervention.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and safe environment at all times.

  • Support residents in participating in social activities and promote their independence.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and communicate effectively with team members regarding residents’ needs.

  • Assist with organising transportation for appointments or outings, utilising driving skills when necessary.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff members, fostering a positive team environment.
Skills
  • Proven experience in senior care or supervising within a care home setting.

  • Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to motivate and manage a team effectively.

  • Excellent communication skills to liaise confidently with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and team members.

  • Competence in developing and implementing personalised care plans tailored to individual needs.

  • Good IT skills for maintaining accurate records and documentation.

  • Valid driving licence is desirable for assisting with transportation needs.

  • Knowledge of senior care practices, health \& safety regulations, and safeguarding procedures.
