Help us keep great education running smoothly

Spark Academy is looking for an exceptional Senior Business Administrator to become a key part of our growing tutoring and alternative education service.

This is not simply a traditional administration role.

You will sit at the heart of our operational administration, helping to ensure that tutor recruitment, new learner referrals, onboarding, tuition delivery, records, reporting and compliance processes are organised, accurate and moving forward.

You will work closely with our Service Delivery Manager and wider business team and will be someone we can rely on to spot what is missing, keep track of deadlines, maintain high\-quality records and make sure issues do not become hidden.

If you are highly organised, comfortable managing several workstreams at once and take pride in getting things right, we would love to hear from you.

About Spark Academy

Spark Academy provides high\-quality tutoring and alternative education support for children and young people, working in partnership with local authorities, schools, families and other professionals.

Many of the learners we support have SEND, SEMH needs, EHCPs or have experienced barriers to accessing education.

We combine strong educational provision with responsive service delivery, safeguarding, accurate administration and positive relationships with the families and professionals we work alongside.

Our ethos is simple: Everyone Belongs, Grows and Thrives.

What you’ll be doing

As Senior Business Administrator, you will help coordinate the administrative systems that support our tutoring service.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • coordinating administrative workflows across tutor recruitment, learner referrals, onboarding and live tuition;

  • supporting tutor recruitment, references, pre\-employment checks and onboarding administration;

  • helping mobilise new learner referrals and ensuring required information is in place before tuition begins;

  • maintaining accurate tutor, learner, referral and service\-delivery records;

  • monitoring deadlines, outstanding actions and required documentation;

  • supporting attendance, reporting, ILP and review administration;

  • communicating professionally with tutors, parents and carers, schools, local authorities and other professionals;

  • checking information for completeness and accuracy and following up missing or inconsistent information;

  • supporting compliance, quality assurance and audit\-readiness;

  • helping junior administrators maintain consistent, high\-quality administrative practice; and

  • identifying recurring issues, delays or process improvements and escalating these appropriately.
You will have senior administrative responsibility and will be trusted to coordinate, check, follow up and escalate work effectively.

The role does not have formal line\-management responsibility, and formal safeguarding, financial, recruitment and management decisions remain with the appropriate accountable lead.

About you

We are looking for someone who is:

  • exceptionally organised and able to manage competing priorities;

  • accurate, methodical and highly attentive to detail;

  • confident managing several administrative processes at the same time;

  • comfortable working independently within clear procedures;

  • confident using digital systems, spreadsheets and administrative records;

  • able to identify missing information, inconsistencies and potential problems;

  • professional and confident when communicating with a wide range of people;

  • comfortable handling confidential and sensitive information;

  • proactive and willing to take ownership of administrative tasks;

  • able to support colleagues and constructively challenge incomplete or inaccurate work; and

  • confident knowing when something should be resolved administratively and when it needs to be escalated.
You should have previous experience in a senior administration, operations, business support or coordination role.

You don’t need to come from education

Previous experience within education, SEND, alternative provision or local\-authority services would be valuable, but it is not essential.

We are also interested in candidates with strong transferable experience from areas such as operations, business support, HR or recruitment, compliance, public services or other regulated environments.

What matters most is your ability to organise complex workflows, maintain accurate records, communicate professionally, exercise good judgement and work to consistently high standards.

Digital confidence

You should be confident using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, spreadsheets and digital record or workflow\-management systems.

You do not need to know every system we use before joining us, but you will need to be comfortable learning new systems quickly.

Why join Spark Academy?

You will be joining a growing education organisation where strong administration is recognised as an essential part of delivering a high\-quality service to children and young people.

This role offers the opportunity to:

  • take ownership of a genuinely important senior administrative function;

  • work across a varied and interesting range of operational activity;

  • help shape and improve systems as the organisation grows;

  • develop experience across education operations, recruitment, compliance and quality assurance;

  • work closely with senior colleagues and contribute to continuous improvement; and

  • be part of an organisation focused on helping children and young people Belong, Grow and Thrive.
Safeguarding

Spark Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

The successful applicant will be required to complete our safer recruitment process and appropriate pre\-employment checks, including identity, employment references, DBS and any other checks relevant to the role.

All staff are expected to maintain appropriate professional boundaries, confidentiality and information\-sharing practices and to follow Spark Academy’s safeguarding procedures.
