Meet the team
RTÉ Technology drives the implementation of RTÉ’s technology strategy. As part of this the Technology Infrastructure team is responsible for the delivery of reliable and robust solutions to support the technology environment. This currently includes overall responsibility for the design, implementation, and maintenance of infrastructure covering a range of traditional IT and broadcast systems, including storage, compute, IP networking, infrastructure applications, digital media, broadcast facilities (studios/playout), and broadcast playout and distribution.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Broadcast Engineer to join the Playout and Distribution team. You will play a key role in the design, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our broadcast infrastructure.
The role is responsible for supporting and evolving:* Broadcast automation, playout, monitoring, and control systems
- Current and next\-generation transmission infrastructure for linear television services
- Linear and OTT video and audio encoding, transcoding, processing, and switching platforms
- Strong knowledge of broadcast automation, playout, transmission, systems integration, and digital media workflows.
- Experience supporting and maintaining mission\-critical broadcast and IT infrastructure.
- Solid understanding of IP networking and media transport technologies (TCP/IP, VLANs, multicast, SMPTE ST 2110, NDI, SRT).
- Experience with enterprise IT systems, including servers, storage, virtualization, cloud services, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and manage technology lifecycles, upgrades, and vendor relationships.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Third\-level qualification in Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- Flexibility to support planned out\-of\-hours work, weekend projects, and on\-call requirements.
