Senior Backend Engineer

Our client's expertise includes AI\-driven fraud prevention, Anti\-Money Laundering (AML), and Know Your Customer (KYC) solutions—designing and implementing intelligent systems that enhance detection, automate investigations and due diligence, boost efficiency, and help institutions stay ahead of regulatory change.

You’ll work at the intersection of business transformation, data science, AI engineering, cloud technologies, and financial services, tackling complex challenges with innovative technology for banking and insurance clients across Europe.

Responsibilities
====================

• Design and build highly scalable, resilient, and secure microservices, as well as RESTful/GraphQL APIs


• Integrate business databases, third\-party services, and legacy platforms with advanced AI engines


• Optimize backend service latency and resource allocation for real\-time AI model hosting and inference


• Implement enterprise\-grade authentication, role\-based access control (RBAC), and rate\-limiting protocols


• Establish and uphold coding standards, write comprehensive integration tests, and conduct code reviews


• Partner with AI engineers to deploy model weights/microservices within unified Docker environments


• Integrate applications with cloud\-hosted services and APIs (AWS/Azure experience strongly preferred)

• 5–10 years of experience in backend/platform engineering


• Strong proficiency with Node.js


• Experience with Python is a plus


• Expertise in building scalable, resilient, and secure cloud applications (AWS required; Azure a plus)


• Experience designing/implementing authentication, RBAC, and security best practices


• Hands\-on experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing


• Prior engagement in large\-scale enterprise environments and mission\-critical systems


• Excellent communication skills in English


• Candidate must be located in an EU member country

• Experience in fintech or financial services

• Full\-time (40 hours/week)
