Department: Projects / Installation
Reports To: Operations Director
Location: Addlestone, Surrey (with extensive EU travel)
Contract Type: Full\-Time, Permanent

About The Company
Our partner are a specialist AV integration company delivering enterprise\-grade videoconferencing, unified communications and audio\-visual solutions for blue\-chip clients across the UK, Europe and beyond. They work with leading technology brands including Crestron, QSC/Q\-SYS, Shure, Logitech, Samsung, Biamp, Neat and Poly, designing, installing and commissioning meeting rooms, boardrooms, town halls and collaboration spaces for clients in financial services, technology and professional services.
With live projects across multiple European cities and a growing international footprint, they are looking for an experienced Senior AV Installation Engineer to take the lead on their most demanding on\-site deployments, taking full ownership of installation quality and, where needed, overseeing junior engineers on multi\-person jobs.
Role Overview
As Senior AV Installation Engineer, you will lead the hands\-on installation, termination, testing and commissioning of commercial AV and videoconferencing systems on client sites across Europe. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, acting as the senior technical presence on\-site, taking final responsibility for installation quality, and mentoring less experienced engineers where a project requires a larger install team. This is a hands\-on, tools\-down role first and foremost, but one that carries real ownership: you are the person the project manager and the client trust to get the install right without close supervision. This role requires significant and regular travel within the EU; you should be comfortable spending the majority of your working time away from home.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the install, termination and testing of AV systems including displays, speakers, microphones, DSPs, video bars, control processors and network switches in commercial environments, taking ownership of installation quality from first fix through to client handover.
- Act as on\-site lead on multi\-engineer deployments, allocating tasks, checking work, and troubleshooting on the day so the job stays on schedule.
- Mentor and upskill junior and mid\-level installation engineers, reviewing their rack builds, cable management and terminations against Indigo Forward standards.
- Commission and configure videoconferencing endpoints and unified communications platforms (Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, native SIP/H.323\), taking the lead on more complex or bespoke room configurations.
- Carry out first\-fix and second\-fix cabling \- CAT6/6a, fibre, HDMI, USB, Dante/AES67 audio networks and sign off on the work of others where you are the senior engineer on\-site.
- Configure and, where required, independently programme control systems (Crestron, Q\-SYS), escalating only the most complex programming to a dedicated commissioning engineer.
- Own rack build and cable management standards on\-site \- dress, label and document all installations to a standard suitable for client sign\-off without rework.
- Conduct site surveys and produce as\-built documentation, cable schedules and snagging reports, and carry out final quality inspection before a room is handed to the client.
- Act as the primary point of contact for client IT teams, facilities managers and main contractors on\-site, coordinating access, power and network requirements across the full duration of a deployment.
- Identify and resolve installation issues independently, using judgement on when to solve on\-site versus escalate to the project manager or commissioning engineer.
- Feed back practical, on\-site insight to the project management and sales teams to help refine scoping and lead times on future projects.
- Travel extensively within the EU (Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain and others) for project deployments, typically weeks at a time, at times leading a small team of engineers.
- Maintain a clean, professional working environment on client sites at all times and hold junior engineers to the same standard.
- Take a lead role in adherence to health and safety regulations and site\-specific requirements, including on multi\-engineer jobs.
Essential
- Minimum 5 years of hands\-on experience installing commercial AV systems in corporate environments, with a track record of working with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrable experience leading or informally directing other installers on\-site, even if not in a formal management role.
- Strong working knowledge of videoconferencing and UC systems \- Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, or equivalent.
- Solid experience with AV brands such as Crestron, QSC/Q\-SYS, Shure, Biamp, Logitech, Neat, Poly and Samsung commercial displays.
- Proficient in structured cabling \- CAT6/6a termination, fibre patching, AV\-over\-IP and Dante audio networking.
- Expert\-level rack building, with a strong eye for cable management, labelling and quality control of others' work.
- Confident reading and interpreting AV drawings, schematics and room layouts, and spotting issues before they become install problems.
- Comfortable taking ownership of a site with minimal day\-to\-day oversight from the project manager.
- Comfortable with extensive EU travel; you will be away from home regularly, often for extended periods.
- Professional appearance and strong communication skills; you are often the senior Indigo Forward presence on client sites.
- Crestron, Biamp, QSC or Shure manufacturer certifications.
- CTS (Certified Technology Specialist), or CTS\-I/CTS\-D.
- Experience with Dante audio networking and Audinate certification.
- IPAF, PASMA or CSCS card holder.
- ECS/CSCS card or equivalent electrical qualification.
- Working knowledge of control system programming (Crestron, Q\-SYS), even if not a dedicated programmer.
- Prior experience informally supervising or training junior AV engineers on\-site.
- Additional European language skills (Dutch, German, French or Spanish) are a strong advantage.
- Previous experience working on international AV projects or multi\-site rollouts.
- Salary of £50,000 \- £60,000, based on experience and skill level.
- Generous travel allowances and per diems for EU deployments.
- All travel, accommodation and expenses covered for project work.
- Manufacturer training and certification pathways (Crestron, QSC, Shure and others).
- Support towards CTS certification.
- A senior role with real ownership of on\-site delivery and, where relevant, informal leadership of junior engineers.
- Exposure to large\-scale, high\-profile projects for enterprise clients across Europe.
- A growing company with real career progression opportunities.
- Pension contributions and holiday entitlement in line with UK standards.
- A close\-knit, hands\-on team that values quality workmanship and professional pride.
