We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join Luvent Consulting on a part‑time basis (3 days per week). The Senior Accountant will serve as a crucial liaison between our Berlin team, Chemonics Europe and the Chemonics International corporate team, ensuring seamless communication and coordination.

Responsibilities

Management information and controls

  • Manage month\-end and quarter\-end closing processes in coordination with the external tax advisor.

  • Prepare management accounts, cash flow forecasts, reconciliations, and financial reports for Chemonics Europe.

  • Oversee general ledger postings, intercompany reconciliations, bank accounts, and payment processes.

  • Monitor project financial performance, analyse budget\-versus\-actual variances, and support margin improvement initiatives together with Project Managers.

  • Ensure compliance with German GAAP, donor regulations, and internal financial controls and procedures.
Audit and accounts preparation
  • Coordinate year\-end statutory accounts and support internal and external audits.

  • Prepare company and project budgets and forecasts.
Policies and processes
  • Serve as a key financial liaison between Luvent, Chemonics Europe, and Chemonics US.

  • Collaborate closely with finance, HR, payroll, operations, and treasury teams.
Systems
  • Support the implementation and optimisation of ERP systems, financial processes, and reporting tools.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and best practices.
Team Management
  • Oversee and support future accounting staff, including onboarding and training.

  • Contribute to the financial costing of new project bids.

Experience \& Skill Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or an equivalent qualification is considered an advantage.

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience with strong knowledge of German GAAP and financial reporting standards.

  • Proven experience in preparing and reviewing financial statements and managing accounting processes.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. DATEV) combined with strong analytical and problem\-solving skills and a high level of attention to detail.

  • Experience supervising, mentoring, and onboarding accounting staff.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within multicultural teams.

  • Business proficiency in German and English, both written and spoken.

  • Knowledge of government accounting and experience managing finances for donor\-funded projects (e.g. EU, GIZ, or KfW) is considered a strong asset.
