We're looking for a passionate and dedicated Secondary SEND Teacher to join our growing specialist team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a nurturing, trauma\-informed environment where relationships, wellbeing and personalised learning are at the heart of everything we do.
You'll support pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them develop academically, socially and emotionally while preparing them for adulthood, further education, employment and independent living.
About the Role
As a Secondary SEND Teacher, you will:
- Deliver engaging, personalised lessons tailored to individual EHCP outcomes and learning needs.
- Teach a broad and balanced curriculum across KS3 and KS4, including functional literacy, numeracy and preparation for adulthood.
- Create a calm, structured and supportive learning environment where pupils feel safe, valued and able to thrive.
- Support the development of communication, emotional regulation, independence and life skills throughout the school day.
- Assess, monitor and celebrate progress using appropriate assessment frameworks.
- Contribute to Annual Reviews, EHCP processes and personalised learning plans.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, families and external professionals to provide integrated support.
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour, learning and personal development through positive, relational approaches.
- Play an active role in the continued growth and development of our specialist provision.
✔ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
✔ A recognised degree qualification
✔ Experience teaching pupils in KS3 and/or KS4
✔ Experience adapting teaching for a wide range of SEND needs
✔ Strong understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning approaches
✔ Knowledge of positive behaviour support and trauma\-informed practice
✔ Excellent communication, organisation and record\-keeping skills
✔ A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people with additional needs
Desirable
⭐ Experience within a specialist school, SEND setting or alternative provision
⭐ Experience supporting pupils with Autism, SEMH, communication needs or complex learning needs
⭐ Training in trauma\-informed practice, nurture approaches or emotional regulation strategies
⭐ Experience delivering Functional Skills, Entry Level qualifications or vocational pathways
⭐ Knowledge of AAC, visual communication systems or sensory\-informed practice
