SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School - Burscough Location: Burscough
Job Type: Full-time Long-term Supply
Start Date: Immediate Start Available

Hays Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Wigan area to recruit a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive school community where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential.The school is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant who can provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and thrive both academically and socially.

Your New Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support pupils with a range of special educational needs. You may provide one-to-one support or work with small groups, adapting learning activities to meet individual needs and ensuring pupils remain engaged and included in the classroom environment.You will play a key role in promoting positive behaviour, supporting emotional wellbeing, and helping pupils develop their independence.

What You'll Need to SucceedTo be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs within a school or educational setting

  • Demonstrate a patient, compassionate, and nurturing approach

  • Be confident supporting pupils with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs

  • Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills

  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team whilst using your own initiative

  • Hold a TA qualification or relevant childcare qualification (desirable but not essential)

  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
