Teaching Personnel is proud to be working in partnership with a specialist SEN secondary school in the Trafford area, supporting students with complex and diverse additional needs. This is a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant position, starting September, offering a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to young people’s lives.
About the School
This specialist setting supports pupils aged 11–16 with a range of complex needs, including autism spectrum condition (ASC), severe and moderate learning difficulties (SLD/MLD), speech and language needs and sensory processing difficulties. The school provides a nurturing, highly supportive learning environment where every child is valued as an individual and encouraged to reach their full potential.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students both academically and emotionally, helping them to access learning and develop essential life skills.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with complex needs
- Assisting the class teacher in delivering differentiated and accessible lessons
- Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour and communication
- Implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and tailored learning strategies
- Encouraging independence, confidence and social skills
- Supporting pupils with personal care, where required
- Creating a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment

The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience working with children or young people with SEN or complex needs (school, care, or support work experience welcomed)
- Be patient, resilient and empathetic
- Have a genuine interest in special education and inclusive learning
- Be confident supporting pupils with challenging behaviour or additional emotional needs
- Be able to work effectively as part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team
- Have an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply through Teaching Personnel)
- A dedicated consultant to support you throughout your placement
- Access to CPD and SEN-focused training

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
