Teaching Assistant – SEN Provision

Location: Cardiff

Contract: Full-time and part-time available

Start: Immediate and ongoing, September start available

Salary: From £92.63 per day

Progression: Opportunity to move onto a permanent contract with the school

The Role:

Teaching Personnel are seeking enthusiastic, patient and committed Teaching Assistants to support a well-established Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Cardiff. The school caters for pupils aged 3–19 years with a wide range of additional learning needs and severe learning difficulties, including ASD, complex needs, communication difficulties, and social, emotional and behavioural needs.

This is a rewarding long-term opportunity with the potential to transition into a permanent school contract for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting learners on a 1:1 basis or within small groups

  • Assisting with classroom activities and differentiated learning

  • Supporting pupils with communication, sensory and emotional needs

  • Using positive behaviour support strategies

  • Assisting with personal care (if required)

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff

  • Helping create an inclusive, safe and engaging learning environment

What We’re Looking For:
  • Experience working with children or young people (school, nursery, youth work, care, SEN, etc.)

  • A passion for supporting pupils with additional needs

  • Calm, patient and adaptable approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A willingness to undertake relevant training (provided by Teaching Personnel)

  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
