SEN Teaching Assistant

If so, Randstad Education wants to hear from you. We are currently recruiting a dedicated and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant for a rewarding position starting in September 2026. Based at a fantastic specialist school site in the Boston Spa area, this full-time role is on a long-term basis, with the genuine potential to lead to a permanent contract.

  • Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (Term-time only)

  • Start Date: September 2026

  • Location: Boston Spa Area (Specialist School Environment)

Operating from a modern and welcoming site, they focus heavily on individualised learning, ensuring that every child is given the tools and confidence to find their voice. The school prides itself on a nurturing, collaborative environment where educators, therapists, and support staff work seamlessly together to promote both academic and personal growth.

Skills Required • Strong interpersonal skills and an intuitive approach to supporting children with hearing impairments or complex speech and language needs.

  • The ability to modify classroom instructions and learning resources dynamically to match individual cognitive and developmental levels.

  • A warm, encouraging nature capable of building trusting relationships with younger pupils to boost their confidence.

  • A calm, professional approach when helping students navigate frustrating communication or learning barriers.

Job Responsibilities • Providing 1:1 and small group support to school-aged pupils, helping them fully engage with the curriculum and classroom activities.
  • Assisting the class teacher in adapting learning resources and managing the classroom environment to ensure it is safe and highly supportive.

  • Helping students develop their social skills, emotional regulation, and communication independence during lessons and break times.

  • Monitoring and recording small-step progress, ensuring all pastoral and safeguarding protocols are strictly followed.

Essential Requirements • Full eligibility to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available).
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service, or a willingness to undergo a new check via Randstad.

  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs within the UK (sensory impairments or communication difficulties are highly desirable).

  • A genuine passion for creating inclusive learning environments where every child can thrive.
